The Executive Members of the Nigerian Young Professionals Forum held its 2015 Annual Retreat in Gambia with its Regional Chairmen, UK & US Head representatives all in attendance.
During the 3-day retreat, a general review of the Programs, Projects and Goals of NYPF was carried out and various ways on how to improve on the already existing pathway of the organization were cited and re-examined.
The NYPF Executives strategized ideas on the areas of Education, Capacity Building, Sustainable Development, Political Attainment, Responsibilities, and Funding for the organization etc.
Chairman of the NYPF Mr Moses Siloko Siasia declared the retreat open, encouraging all the executive members present to ensure that they use the few days to constructively contribute, brainstorm and discuss on methods that will help move the organization towards the realization of its visions and aspirations.
On Education, the house agreed that more could be done to reach out to less privileged kids, increase scholarship allocations can be actualized with adequate financial planning and organization of value re-orientation programmes for pupils/students and upcoming professionals at tertiary levels.
The team also took a look at developing a way to provide support for Young Professionals in pursuit of Academic Certifications in their chosen field and moved for the creation of an office for a Director of Human Capacity Development.
It was thereby agreed upon that members should make attempts to venture in politics and an enlightenment Programs will be organized to sensitize such aspirants about the type of terrain they face in todays public offices. The issue of creating a think-tank team was raised and it was decided upon that the Research and Planning committee should help source for a capable individual to do the Job of a research planner for the organization.
The National Chairman bought up the issue of the secretariat and the need for the enhancement of our social media handles and pages, ensuring an automatic registration of intending members and prompt adequate response to questions and keeping the organization’s website up to date with the latest events and programs carried out.
He issued a wake-up call to all Directors and Supervisors to maintain a high level of discipline, ensure tasks are properly carried out on time, make conscious effort to carry out respective responsibilities effectively and efficiently to stand out as a good example to other members of the organization.
The Team further strategized that any program to be held by regions should pass through the secretariat for approval and programs of countries should ensure that a notification is sent to the National Head office before hand.
Finally it was unanimously agreed upon that the need for proper documentation of all programmes, activities and events cannot be overemphasized as it is crucial to keep and maintain a track record of all the activities of the organization.
